Hello, I'm Joel

hi! I'm Joel. My first interest into photography came when I took a black and white film photography class in college.  I wanted to travel the world, and photography became the way for me to document my travels. I studied for 1 year in Japan, and bought my first digital camera to document it.  After college,  I went on a 15,000 kilometer bicycle trip around North America (USA, Canada, and Mexixo), and a 2 month trip around Europe developing a deeper understanding of photography through my travels.

It was in 2010, that began my first professional photography job, shooting as a portrait photographer at a ski resort in Lake Tahoe, California. For the last 3 years I was living in Japan, before recently returning to Hawaii and Visionari.

Over the years, photography has given me the opportunity to see amazing places, meet incredible people, and create some deeply meaningful memories. It is an honor to capture those meaningful moments of people’s lives through the lens of photography. Thank you for reading :)
